Being grateful

Good morning dear Ones,

Somehow, the theme of being grateful, of cultivating gratitude, has showed up this morning. It is an essential attitude on the path if we want to move forward. Reflecting on the past and harboring resentment can only slow down, if not block, our progress.

I was reminded of some words I read recently,

“For all that has been—Thanks!

To all that shall be—Yes!”

And others I read quite some time ago,

“I give thanks for everything and have no regrets whatsoever.”

We shall be grateful for what we have, for what has happened to us, even in the darkest of moments; and yet I believe we shall also be grateful for what we don’t have; or for something, or even someone, we were searching for and that never landed in our hearts or wallets.

I can think of some examples in my life. What would have happened if we had gotten this or that? Who knows, of course, yet what I am thinking of is “something” which would have limited our freedom to move and, possibly, my freedom to be; and my freedom to grow.

Come to think of it, I can also think of people, or relationships long ago, in places where I wasn’t meant to stay, which would have hindered my destiny.

Some things are meant to happen, some people are meant to cross our paths, and some are simply not.

Why not send a big “thank you” for all that has come to fruition, all that hasn’t, and open ourselves for what is to come?

About new desert

Nurturing the Gift of Seeking is about a spiritual "destination," a journey within, a new beginning, that eventually takes us where we are meant to arrive. Some call it Home, yet I am not sure what Home means, and where it is. Enjoy the journey, dear Ones! On this journey, what matters, first and foremost, is our seeking spirit. And the seed of perseverance--or faith, if you will. Happy journey, dear fellow Sisters and Brothers!
