A few words about forgiveness this week.

We all know (I hope) that forgiveness is an essential practice. Many may think that it “liberates” the person or entity we have in mind; yet the first person to be liberated–from deep resentment, from anger, from the poison sitting in our hearts–is you, me, us.

Perhaps we experienced that already; a huge weight being lifted off our spiritual shoulders as forgiveness “took over” and whitened our perspective, so to speak.

From the mantra I recite every day, I came to realize that we can also “spread forgiveness and grace” all around.

Many sites around the world have been the witness of wars, atrocities and so on. And many innocent people have suffered or lost their lives in meaningless conflicts. Sending them forgiveness helps clear the path and regenerates the energy–even the energy of a person’s life, past or present.

Here is the decree I am using, in both French and English.

Forgiveness decree

I AM forgiveness acting here,

Casting out all doubt and fear,

Setting men and women forever free

With wings of cosmic victory.

I AM calling in full power

For forgiveness every hour;

To all life in every place

I flood forth forgiving grace.

JE SUIS le pardon en action,

Rejetant le doute, la peur,

Libérant pour toujours les femmes et les hommes

Avec les ailes de la victoire cosmique.

JE SUIS, j’appelle avec puissance

Le pardon à chaque instant ;

Sur toute vie et en tout lieu

Je répands grâce et pardon.
